Now Johnson could miss Oz Test

England skipper Martin Johnson now looks likely to miss the crunch Test encounter with Australia at Twickenham on November 10.

The Leicester lock broke a bone in his left hand in their 21-11 Premiership victory over Northampton on Saturday, and although the extent of the damage has yet to be confirmed, it is likely he will be out for at least three weeks.

This would rule Johnson out of England's Grand Slam bid against Ireland in Dublin at the weekend, and his club's Heineken Cup double-header with Perpignan.

But a longer lay-off threatens England's autumn international programme, including matches against Romania and South Africa.

"You have to be philosophical," Johnson told the Daily Mail. "I have seen a specialist and he said it could be worse."
