Profile

Faingaa, along with twin brother Saia, made his first inroads into Super Rugby with the Brumbies. An Australian Schoolboy, Under-19 and Sevens international, his hard-running game developed quickly following a switch to the Reds in 2009. After the departure of Wallaby Berrick Barnes to the Waratahs, Faingaa's tough-tackling became a fixture of the Queensland midfield in 2010, with his power game complementing the razzle-dazzle of fly-half Quade Cooper. He was called up to the Australian Barbarians squad at the end of a strong season, playing against England, and completed his rise with a Test debut off the bench against New Zealand. The following week he made history after being named in the starting line-up along with his brother, the first set of twins since Mark and Glen Ella in 1983 to start a Test for the Wallabies.

Faingaa failed to make an apperance during the 2010 northern hemisphere tour but he was back in the Wallabies set up at the end of the 2011 season. He impressed throughout the Super Rugby campaign and was suitably rewarded by Robbie Deans with a place in the 30-man squad for the World Cup, making six appearances in the tournament after Australia suffered a series of injuries in the backline.
