Italy will be out to break their duck against Samoa in Ascoli on Saturday, having lost all three Tests against their visitors since their first meeting at the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

On that occasion the great Brian Lima scored a brace of tries to help Samoa to a thumping 42-18 victory in East London, a scoreline which remains their best against the Azzurri. Their most recent victory came in 2001 - when the Italian halfback partnership of Alessandro Troncon and Diego Dominguez remained intact from their 1995 mauling.

Last season the Italians also suffered at the hands of the Pacific Islanders, who picked up their first ever Test victory at the same stage of the November Tests - winning 25-17 in Reggio Emilia.
