The Leicester Tigers are hopeful that England fly-half Toby Flood will be fit for their key Heineken Cup clash with Treviso at Welford Road on Sunday.

Flood sat out England's win over the All Blacks on Saturday due to a toe injury but Richard Cockerill hopes to call on his fly-half for the Pool 2 clash with the RaboDirect PRO12 side. "The injury is improving day by day," Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury. "There is every chance that he should be fit to play at the weekend, which is great news."

The Tigers have a win and a loss to their name in this season's Heineken Cup with the defeat coming back in Round 1 against Toulouse. They bounced back the following weekend against the Ospreys with Flood playing a key role kicking 19 points and also crossing for an intercept try.

With England still riding the wave of good feeling after their memorable win over the All Blacks on Saturday, Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell has come in for praise after he stepped into Flood's shoes and put in a memorable showing against the Kiwis. Cockerill, however, is adamant that England would have won the match against the world champions if Flood - who started England's other three matches of the autumn series - had been fit to play.

"If Toby had been playing on Saturday, I have no doubt that the result would have been the same," Cockerill said. "He has been in good form but he knows that it is peaks and troughs in this game."

The Tigers will have winger Scott Hamilton and prop Logovi'i Mulipola fit for Sunday's match, according to the Leicester Mercury, while Cockerill is also optimistic that Anthony Allen - who was knocked out against Bath on Saturday - will be cleared to play.
