Newcastle Falcons have re-signed back row Chris York as they look to strengthen ahead of next season.

York, who joined the Falcons from Harlequins in the summer of 2012, has made 28 appearances for the the club and was a try-scorer in the 40-33 defeat by Gloucester in March.

"I'm very pleased to have pledged my future to Newcastle Falcons, and I'm extremely positive and excited at what lies ahead for the club," said York. "I'm looking forward to another season in the Aviva Premiership and hopefully we get the rewards for all of the hard work that we are putting in at present."

"Chris is a talented back-row with all of the credentials that you need to succeed in the Aviva Premiership," said Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards. "He's a great lad with a superb attitude and I'm sure that he can't wait to get back out onto the training field and get a good pre-season under his belt."

The Falcons finished last season one place above the relegation spot and have embarked on an ambitious rebuilding programme in a bid to hold onto their Premiership status for another season. Among those joining York at Kingston Park next season will be Tuiliagi brothers Alesana and Anitelea, Leicester hooker Rob Hawkins and Worcester No.8 Semisi Taulava.
