Argentina lock Tomas Lavanini has been suspended for one week and will miss the Pumas' Test against Australia on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Lavanini pleaded guilty to "dangerous charging" when he didn't use his arms to clear out All Blacks captain Richie McCaw during the Pumas' 28-9 loss to New Zealand in Napier. He was penalised by referee Pascal Guazere for the dangerous move during the game, and was cited after the match.

Lavanini will be available for the Pumas when they take on the All Blacks in Argentina.

Sanzar Judicial Officer Adam Casselden stated: "The player's action can be described as reckless and not intentional. I accepted as mitigating factors the age of the player, his good playing record and his early guilty plea. The recommended sanction at the lower end for this offence is a two-week suspension."
