Italy coach Jacques Brunel has announced a squad of 50 players to prepare for the Rugby World Cup in September.

40 players will meet for Italy's first training camp in June 14, with a further 10 waiting as reserves to be called up if necessary.

However, captain Sergio Parisse and veteran prop Martin Castrogiovanni will not join up with Brunel's squad until July 12 because of their involvement in the Top 14 play-offs. Their places in the current training group are taken by flanker Paul Derbyshire and prop Andrea Lovotti

Brunel is set to announce his final World Cup squad of 31 players on August 9, before warm-up games against Scotland on August 22 and 29, and Wales on September 5.
