Saracens prop Nick Lloyd has signed a new contract with the Premiership club and has thrown himself straight into preparations for the 2007/08 season.

Lloyd and the majority of the Saracens squad returned to pre-season training on Monday and the player is keen to help Saracens build on last season's performances that saw them finish fourth in the Guinness Premiership.

He said: "I'm really pleased to have signed for a further year. My wife and I are very settled in the area and I want to stay and help Saracens improve on the success we had last season. There is still a lot that both I and the club want to achieve so this was an easy decision for me."

Although he didn't get as much first team action as he would have wanted at the start of last season, as the campaign wore on, he became a regular in the squad.

"Nick is a very talented player and ended the year for us in possession of a starting jersey, so we're delighted he is staying for a further 12 months," added Saracens Director of Rugby Alan Gaffney. "He is an important member of the squad and with Nick, Matias Aguero and Kevin Yates all challenging for the loose head position next season, there is good competition for places."
