Rotorua International Stadium, which was originally built in 1911 and has been renovated several times since, hosts rugby union and league matches as well as some Waikato FC football matches. The stadium features a covered stand seating up to 4,000 with uncovered seating area on the western side of the field.

The stadium is scheduled to host three matches during the 2011 World Cup, including Ireland's Pool C clash with Russia. It hosted the third-place play-off between Wales and Australia during the 1987 World Cup.
