McAlister - penalty goal

13

Scum to New Zealand after a good run from Kane Robertson. Leonard to feed.

14

McAllister hoists but overkicks and the ball goes into touch on the full. Italy have made a good start. Throw-in to the back and the ball is being driven slowly through a number of phases by the Azzurri forwards.

15

92 per cent of the play so far has been in the All Blacks half. Italy now on the attack after a good break by Zanni and have New Zealand under pressure. Gower comes on the wrap-around but can't hold on and it's a scrum to NZ.

16

Nick Mallett is animated in the coaches box, his team are playing well. NZ scrum in their 22 which is taken at the back by Read. McAllister fumbles the pass back to him but recovers and is scragged before clearing.

17

McLean takes well from Leonard's kick but Canale wastes the possesion and the All Blacks boot it upfield. Robertson tries a chip kick and Muliaina goes bursting into the Italian half before Nonu carries, is tackled and the ball is turned over.

18

Italy look to be away as the ball is hacked forward but the referee calls them back for offside and Luke McAlister kicks to touch. Attacking lineout for the home side now.

19

Mealamu overthrows and the ball is cleared long upfield by Italy. Masaga gathers and runs it back before being tackled and the ball is cleared away. Italy boot the ball into the air and the All Blacks are pinged for offside. Harsh that. Italy go for poles.

20

McLean goes for posts and it's short.

21

Rokocoko fumbles a gather off a high ball and the All Blacks go left before McAlister puts in a good kick deep into the Italian 22. Good kick by him after a shaky start,

22

TRY! Italy contest well at the lineout but manage to regain it and McAlister sends the cross kick wide to Rokocoko, Canale is down with a head injury, and he manages to bust through two players and dive over.

23 8 - 0

McAlister nails the conversion. First test try for the big wing since the World Cup 2007. Amazing stat that for him.

24 10 - 0

Series of kicking from the restart and eventually the All Blacks come away down the right. Kaino is tackled but Italy get blown up for slowing the ball down. on the Italian 10 metre line, near-side. Harsh that call, Parisse looked to be OK for the steal.

25

McAlister gets another kick and it's 13-0 with Italy having played most of the rugby.

26

Thorn takes the restart and the AB's maul upfield before going left before coming back across the field and then straight up into midfield. Series of kicks now between the two sets of outside backs before Gower finally boots it into touch for a lineout.

27 13 - 0

AB's take the lineout and the ball goes out into the midfield before an Italian hand, going for the intercept, knocks it on. Scrum to New Zealand.

28

Another aggressiev hit by the Italians who nearly take yet another intercept. As we were then.

29

Masaga is wrapped up by Garcia and Leonard makes a half-break but is brought down. The ball's recycled quickly before the AB's are blown up for holding on.

30

italy take the lineout and a superb interchange in midfield sees Bergamasco burst through the middle. He's brought down and it's a penalty to Italy.

31

13-3, good kick by McLean - that's the least they deserve.

32 13 - 3

Parisse takes the ball in and the AB's ruck well to turn it over. Latimer takes it up and it's recycled and Muliaina takes a half-gap before Toeava scoops the final pass to 'Big Joe' forward.

33

Penalty to Italy against John Afoa for scrumming on the angle. Italy clear to touch.

34

Bortolami takes and it's a penalty to Italy for Kieran Read dragging the Italian down.

35

Bit of afters there - but we move on and Italy take the lineout well. Good ball and Italy attempt to drive it around the fringes. Italy have made a mess of this and should have cleared and are rather fortunate to get a penalty as the All Balcks go off their feet. McLean to go for posts.

36

That's a good kick but it falls just short. Unlucky that. McAlister with the 22 drop-out - long.

37

Italy have the ball after Parisse takes it in.Back to Gower who kicks stright up the middle. McAlister fumbles but regathers and eventually Brad Thorn comes away with it up the blindside. Still All Black ball before eventually McAlister kicks long and Gower attempts to keep it in but his toe's on the line! That's out.

38

All Blacks take the lineout and it goes left.

39

Good quick ball and it goes to Masaga who's through! But the whistle goes as there's an interfering line run.

40

The half-time whistle goes and Italy were really good in that half and the All Blacks are slightly flattered by that scoreline. But if you get one opportunity in international rugby then you have to take - as Rokocoko did. 13-3 then, see you for the second half.

McAlister to restart then. New Zealand regather and it gets to Nonu who tries to bust through the middle. Ross knocks and Italy kick upfield. A series of kicks eventually sees Tebaldi hit the corner. Good kick.

40

Leonard clears from his tryline. Italian lineout.

41

Italy run the ball through a number of phases. Good play

42

Ball is deep as Italy in centrefield on the NZ 22 then attack the blindside through Ghiraldini. They hold onto it and recycle and look a threat. before eventaully after a good number of phases Parisse takes a drop goal - misses it badly. Why?

43

All Blacks take advantage of Parisse's interesting choice of play and run it back before eventually being run out in the Italian half.

44

Italy's kicking game is good and McLean grubbers it to the AB 22. Good positional play this by Italy.

45

On the 22 now and the AB's kick long and kick it onto McLean before he kicks it out on the full on the Italian 10-metre line.

46

All the paly is in the AB's 22 now. Italy ball, good position for this and the first one goes down. It's to be re-set.

47

Italy get pinged for an early engagement - it's free-kick on their own ball. That's a chance missed. AB's boot upfield.

48

The balls back with NZ now and Ross charges up the left hand side of the field before being nailed. It goes right quickly to Masaga and he chips - the ball bounces infirld and over the loine and Read might have got his hand on the ball oevr the line. TMO decision pending.

49

Read might have got his hand on the ball but Masaga has pushed McLean out the way in going for the ball. The TMO has ruled it's a penalty to Italy. That's the right call even if technically the infringement wasn't over the actual tryline.

50

Trio of subs on for the AB's now as they seek an injection of enterprise. New Zealand, Kaino this time, burst through again and Rokocoko eventually drop-passes the ball into touch.

51

Good play by Italy as they go left and New Zealand are blown up for obstruction. Italy blast it long.

52

Italy lose their own throw and the All Blacks go left and then it's kicked. But silly mistake as Toeava is miles in front of the kicker - another shot for McLean.

53

Over! 13-6 now. Pressure on Graham Henry now because if Italy win this then his job would come under increasing scrutiny.

54 13 - 6

Try! New Zealand come back through the midfield now and Weepu sends it right before coming back into midfield through Muliaina. In the Italian 22 now with Afoa, the ball's recycled and Toeava bursts on the near touch-line through a half-gap to send Isaac Ross over for an easy run-in.

55 18 - 6

20-6 now and they appear to be in control now. Italy get a penalty straight off the restart and turn down a shot at the posts and put it in the corner. Interesting.

56 20 - 6

Italy look to set the maul now but it's breaking down. They've still got the ball but haven't made any ground.

57

We're still on the same spot in the fourth phase. It eventually comes out and Gower cross-kicks. Robertson and Muliaina contest it and it's scrum to Italy for a knock-on.

58

Parisse's fingers get very close to Isaac Ross' eye. The citing commissioner will be looking at that again I think. Scrum goes down first time in the AB 22 before the ref gives a free-kick to the AB's.

59

The AB's go quickly right and Italy are defending magnificently and hold the AB's in their 22. New Zealand are forced to kick due to be under so much pressure and Weepu finds touch on his own 22.

61

Italy win another good lineout and it goes into midfield before it's turned over by the AB's who kick upfield. Chase on here! In the ensuing mess the ref blows for a 22 drop-out, although it would appear Mils knocked that on in actual fact.

62

McAlister to Nonu as the AB's on the attack but Nonu spills and easy pass and Italy gather and kick to the corner. Italy on the attack again.

63

New Zealand take their own lineput and drive the ball upfield. McAlister chips from the quick ball and Robertson kicks that beautifully into the corner. Nice touch. AB's take the lineout and clear to touch.

64

Italy take their lineout - it's been strong. They have the ball in midfield and Gower goes for a drop-goal which falls just slightly short and to the right.

65

Brad Thorn - what are you doing? He tries to grubber the ball forward on his own 22 and misses it completely. The All Blacks regather but manage to get away and Ross bursts upfield showing some slick running skills. The ball goes to the right and a tackle is made.

66

Still the same move though and it comes left. Nonu gets the ball from Franks on the left touchline after a sereis of passes in midfield. Nonu gets his hands through the tackle and sends Whitelock over for a try on debut. Excellent try - set up by the big man, Isaac Ross.

67 25 - 6

All Blacks have scored virtually at every opportunity whereas Italy just can't turn territory into defence. Same old story for Nick Mallett's men? The ball is with New Zeland now and Nonu surges to the hal-way line. Ross again with the ball - he's having a good game.

68 27 - 6

Penalty to New Zealand for an early tackle and they go for touch.

69

AB lineout inside the Italian 22 - can Mealamu hit his jumper? He can't and overthrows as the Italians take the ball into midfield win a penalty for the All Blacks killing the ball.

70

They lose the throw after a botched lineout but make a hash of it as Toeavadrops a simple pass. Poor that.

71

Italy with the ball now - it's slow-ish again. But they have it and Burton kicks it away. Muliaina kicks it long.

72

Italy try to play with greater pace now but Tebaldi's attempted kick through for Robertson takes a deflection and goes into touch on the half-way line.

73

Rokocoko come short off the back of an AB scrum and it gets to McAlister who's tackled. Still with the AB's - on the half-way line. They're looking to spring the defence.

74

Italy defend manfully and the AB's are still on the half-way line before Italy get their hands on it and Favaro kicks it to touch again into the AB's 22.

75

Free-kick to Italy as the AB's delay the lineout put in. They go quickly and attempt to break through midfield and Burton goes for a drop-kick. Just left - why that option though? No bonus points on offer here.

76

The All Blacks now and Italy get pinged for going off their feet. Weepu kicks for touch.

77

AB lineout on the Italian 22. Time out as somebody does their laces up.

78

AB ball now and trademark McAlister steps right through the defence, offloads to Rokocoko and then to Weepu who's held on the line. Penalty to Italy.

79

Hooter goes and the AB's on the attack.

80

The ball goes dead and Nick Mallett and his staff are hugging in the coaches box. Italy played very, very well indeed and with a bit more precision could have run the All Blacks very close on the scoreboard. Graham Henry has problems I think - the Tri-Nations is just around the corner and his team look decidedly disjointed. 27-6 the final score then. Next up it's Australia against France before the second test between the Lions and the Springboks from Pretoria. Thanks from us here at Scrum.com.
