Ireland captain Paul O'Connell is in Toulon's sights, according to reports.

The Irish Times says Toulon are keen on adding O'Connell's experience to their ranks but his contract does not expire until the end of next season. O'Connell would have to therefore turn his back on the last year of his deal with Munster.

If that unlikely occurrence does play out, O'Connell would have no shortage of suitors. Toulon are not averse to bringing in experienced heads and currently have 33-year-old Ali Williams and 35-year-old Bakkies Botha in their second-row ranks with both starting against Leinster last Sunday. However, both are leaving at the end of the season.

If O'Connell does make himself available, Pau and Grenoble would also be keen. Ex-Munster coach Simon Mannix is in charge of Pau and has already brought in Conrad Smith and Colin Slade ahead of next term while Grenoble are presided over by ex-Ireland hooker Bernard Jackman.
