Injury woes for the Lions
October 16, 2000

The Lions' run-away victory over the Pumas on Saturday may have come at a heavy price ahead of their Currie Cup semifinal against Western Province at Newlands.

Among the walking wounded are scrumhalf Werner Swanepoel (shoulder), centre Japie Mulder (ribs)and lock Jannes Labuschagne (calf), while fullback Thinus Delport also had to leave the field in their 72-23 victory. Delport, who had just returned from concussion, took another knock to the head but will be able to take his place on Saturday.

The most serious concerns are about Swanepoel and Labuschagne. Lions star flanker Rassie Erasmus is also still on the injury list, but luckily Bok captain Andre Vos will be back in action.
