Southland prop Jamie Mackintosh and Waikato prop Ben Tameifuna have both received one-week suspensions after last Friday's NPC rugby match in Invercargill. Mackintosh was cited for stamping after vigorous rucking on Waikato reserve back Sam Christie eight minutes from full-time. Tameifuna's citing was for the same offence on Mackintosh earlier in the game, won 20-16 by Southland. Judicial officer Chris Morris said Mackintosh's rucking was forceful, and the number of times his boot made contact with Christie put the incident into the more serious category. However, he said the stamping was at the low end of offending and suspended Mackintosh from all rugby up to and including September 14. He will miss Southland's match against Manawatu in Palmerston North on Friday. Tameifuna will miss Waikato's match against Auckland on Saturday, Morris saying his offending was reckless but not intentional, and that more care was needed in future. © AAP
