Crusaders' wing Robbie Fruean has undergone surgery after he fractured his right arm in the Crusaders' loss to the Chiefs on Saturday. Fruean has had a plate inserted into his arm and is expected to be sidelined for up to five months.

Crusaders' head coach Todd Blackadder said the whole side was feeling for their team-mate who is likely to miss the rest of the Super Rugby season.

"We know that Robbie wanted to make this a great season so this is hugely disappointing for him. We know that he will continue to contribute to the team while he is on the road to recovery and we hope that he is able to make a full recovery before the season is over."
