Bath's Nick Abendanon was in Clermont last month to talk through a potential move to the Top 14 giants, according to reports.

Midi Olympique claims Abendanon is on Clermont's radar as a potential replacement for Lee Byrne who is widely expected to leave Les Jaunards at the end of the season. Abendanon, who has two caps for England, is tied to Bath until the end of next season but the west country side are no stranger to seeing their players leave midway through a contract for a move to France having seen Olly Barkley join Racing Metro in the early stages of last season.

Abendanon has found himself largely behind new signing Anthony Watson in the Bath pecking order but is still a favourite on the stands of the Recreation Ground having made 132 appearances for them in the top flight.
