Leinster crash to excellent Swansea
August 21, 2000

After a fine display against Bridgend in mid week Leinster came down to earth in the final game of their tour to Britain with a 48-5 mauling at the hands of Swansea.

The All Whites were keen to put last weekend's defeat at Sale Sharks behind them and they controlled the game for long passages, allowing Matthew Robinson to run in four of his side's eight tries. Leinster's only reply was a try late in the second half for Shane Horgan.

The entire Swansea back line was in fine form, with Scott Gibbs and Mark Taylor looking particularly lethal in midfield.

"We tackled well and worked hard," said Swansea coach John Plumtree. "We were patient, and before the match we talked about effort. We had been well beaten at Sale in a friendly and know that it will take a big effort to win in the league at Pontypridd next weekend"
