Profile

Trevor Maxwell Ringland is a solicitor and former Rugby Union winger who won 34 caps for Ireland between 1981 and 1988 scoring nine tries.

The winger played for Ballymena and Ulster and won his first international cap against Australia on November 21, 1981. He would later play one Test for the British and Irish Lions on their 1983 tour to New Zealand and feature in Ireland's 1987 Rugby World Cup campaign. His last cap came against England in their Five Nations Championship clash at Twickenham on March 19, 1988.

After attending Larne Grammar School Ringland studied law at Queen's University Belfast. Since retirement, he has combined his legal work with coaching stints at Ballymena and a role as a committee member of the Irish Rugby Football Union. In 2006 he was appointed as a member of the new Northern Ireland Policing Board.

Ringland is also active with Peace Players International, an organization devoted to promote unity between Catholics and Protestants in Belfast through sport. Ringland and cohort Dave Cullen won the 2007 ESPY Arthur Ashe for Courage Award for their work in this area.
