Edinburgh have unveiled Neil Back as their new forwards coach on a two-year deal.

Back was in charge of the Rugby Lions last term and led them to promotion but has opted for a change of scenery. Previously to his time with the Lions, Back was in charge of Leeds Carnegie and also played a key role in England's path to World Cup glory in 2003. Although Back's side the Rugby Lions won every game last year the lure of Edinburgh proved to be too much.

Edinburgh boss Michael Bradley was delighted to be able to unveil the new addition to his backroom staff.

"There is a consistent thread of success throughout his [Back]playing and coaching career, his attention to detail is exceptional and he has already outlined clearly the standards he expects of himself and our squad," Bradley said. "Technically he is very strong and his coaching credentials stand out as someone who gets the best out of players - a characteristic which, added to him being a consistent winner, makes him a very positive appointment for Edinburgh Rugby.

"If our forwards can embrace that sort of focus and commitment, something I think they crave, then Edinburgh Rugby will go from strength to strength."

Back will now look to bring all of his on and off field expertise to Edinburgh and is relishing taking on the new post. "This role presents a fantastic challenge and I'm very grateful to get the opportunity at such a high-profile club," Back said. "It's a very exciting time for Edinburgh Rugby with a great squad, exciting new players arriving and some really positive performances to build on from last season.

"There are lots of elements to a rugby player, and to being in a position to technically and physically excel, so my coaching philosophy is to be meticulous in everything we do. It's very much about the absolute fine detail needed to maximize your potential.

"All of this contributes to my love for the coaching and training environment. I'm a passionate coach. I'm 100% committed, 100% of the time, and I'm really looking forward to this challenge."
