Harlequins flyer Ugo Monye has been released for club duty ahead of England's match with Australia on Saturday.

The news means that Chris Ashton is likely to come straight back into England's XV for the Test after serving a one-match suspension which ruled him out of the match with Fiji last Saturday. Monye got the nod against Fiji and managed to cross for a try but coach Stuart Lancaster has opted to keep the faith with Gloucester flyer Charlie Sharples who bagged a double on Saturday.

England have also released London Irish duo Alex Corbisiero and Jonathan Joseph. Corbisiero played 61 minutes in their Anglo-Welsh Cup game with the Sale Sharks at the weekend but Lancaster believes he will benefit from more club action while Brad Barritt and Manu Tuilagi's strong showing against Fiji has meant they look set to keep the centre berths against the Wallabies.

Lancaster explained the decisions saying: "We had to make some tough decisions within the 23 and we are in a good position to be able to select from a largely fit squad.

"Training has been very focused during the last two days with all the players training well and pushing hard. Alex Corbisiero has played once in five months so it is important that he goes back and has more game time for London Irish. Jonathan Joseph has come through training but Brad and Manu did well in the centres and, similar to Alex, it would be good for him to get some game time.

"It is tough on Ugo, who misses out this time, but Chris [Ashton] has been excellent in training and Charlie is rewarded for his performance at the weekend."
