Wales international prop Adam Jones is to extend his stay with Aviva Premiership club Harlequins.

Quins have announced that 34-year-old Jones, who joined them this season from Cardiff Blues, has re-signed for another year.

He retired from Test rugby 11 months ago after winning 95 Wales caps and being part of four Six Nations title-winning campaigns.

Jones also played in five Tests for the British & Irish Lions on their tours of South Africa in 2009 and Australia four years later.

"Since Adam arrived over the summer, his impact on the group cannot be understated," Quins rugby director Conor O'Shea told the club's official website..

"He has been, and will continue to be, a huge influence on the whole group through his demeanour and professionalism.

"He is still a competitor who wants to win things, and I have no doubt he will help us hugely in that quest.

"The competition between Adam, Kyle Sinckler, Will Collier and Matt Shields can only make us, and them, better. We are delighted he has committed for another year."

Jones, meanwhile, added: "I'm chuffed to bits to have re-signed for such a prestigious club.

"I am really enjoying my rugby at Harlequins, and it's great to see the wealth of talent coming through the ranks. It's an exciting place to be right now, and I am grateful to both Conor O'Shea and John Kingston [Quins head coach] for giving me the opportunity to continue here."
