Jessica Ennis will put herself through a gruelling examination at the Olympic trials, competing in four events over the weekend event in June.

Ennis, heavily tipped for Olympic gold in the heptathlon for Team GB this summer, recently broke the British record in the event. She is now keen to push on with preparations by stretching herself in Birmingham.

Across Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24, Ennis will compete in the 100m hurdles, the high jump, the long jump and the 200m.

The Brit does not need to post any qualifying times, having already booked her place on Team GB for London 2012. However, she is keen to force herself against specialists in the four events to improve her personal bests.

"I've got a gruelling couple of days lined up on the Saturday and Sunday at the Aviva 2012 Trials," Ennis said. "I want to use the meet to give myself a real physical test over two days, as I'll be competing in two heats and four finals over the weekend.

"Everything is focused on London 2012 for me and a packed Birmingham Alexander Stadium will be the closest I'll come to replicating that tough schedule and environment ahead of the Games.

"The great thing is that I'll be taking on specialists in every event and they will all be fighting for Olympic spots. The competition will be tough and there will be no let-up over the two days."
