Ennis: Brit rival will overtake me
Promising British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson qualified for London 2012 on Sunday - and Jessica Ennis immediately hailed her potential.
Johnson-Thompson, 19, won the World Youth Championship in 2009 and has been discussed as the natural heir to Ennis ever since.
And athletics fans will get the chance to see them compete against each other on the highest stage, after Johnson-Thompson booked her place at the Games by notching 6248 points, almost 100 more than the Olympic A qualifying mark, in the Czech Republic on Sunday.
"I knew Katarina could do it," Ennis said to the Sun. "She will be better than me one day. She has beaten my junior record. Her scores in her individual events are looking really good. It's great that she's qualified for the Olympics.
"I think over the next couple of years she will start getting closer and closer to me."
