British wrestler Myroslav Dykun has been banned for two years after failing a drugs test, UK Anti-Doping has confirmed.

The Greco-Roman wrestler, who won gold for England at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, tested positive for amphetamines in March, and UKAD announced on Friday the athlete's B sample had also come back positive.

Dykun was an Olympic medal hope but was omitted from the Team GB squad following his failed drugs test.

Ukrainian-born Dykun, who arrived in Britain in 2003 with the aim of being a sparring partner before quickly deciding he wanted to compete for Britain, is suspended until April 29, 2014.

UKAD chief executive Andy Parkinson said: "Our pre-Games prevention programme was put in place to ensure that only clean athletes represent Great Britain and this case proves that the system is working.

"When the eyes of the world fall on London later this month, we want the public to have confidence in clean sport and understand that doping of any kind will not be tolerated.''
