Laura Robson has been handed a place in the women's singles at the London Olympics following the withdrawal of Petra Martic.

Robson, who is up to 96 in the world following a decent run at the Italia Open, initially missed out on one of the two singles spots on offer - as Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha were given the nod.

The teenager was handed a place in the doubles alongside Heather Watson who this week was told she had earned a spot in the singles due to the withdrawal of Alona Bondarenko.

Watson's rise into the main draw moved Robson up to the top of the alternate list and the defection of Martic has handed Team GB a full complement of four players in the draw.

Robson has been working hard in preparation for the event and had been hitting with Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki.

Robson will slot into the draw in the bottom half and will take on Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic in the first round on Sunday.

She will open her Olympics campaign on Saturday with a doubles match against fifth seeds Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki from Germany.
