Tweddle inspires GB into final
Three-time world champion Beth Tweddle took a step closer to an elusive Olympic medal as she stormed into the uneven bars final at London 2012.
Twedddle scored 16.133 to top qualifying as she inspired Team GB to reach the team final at the North Greenwich Arena.
Rebecca Tunney secured a place in Thursday's all-round final after scoring 56.391 from the four apparatus to qualify in 13th place while team-mate Hannah Whelan qualified 15th. Britain scored 170.656 to finish fifth overall as the USA staked their claim for gold with a score of 181.863.
Meanwhile, in the equestrian competition, Zara Phillips recovered from an early mistake to help Britain move into the bronze medal position after the dressage stage of the team eventing competition in Greenwich Park.
Tina Cook showed real focus to finish 14th despite heavy rain and lightning threatening to disrupt her performance, while Phillips scored 46.10 to sit in a share of 24th. Favourites Germany lead Australia, with the cross-country and showjumping stages still to come.
