Team GB chef de mission Andy Hunt claims Tom Daley has been unaffected by the Twitter furore that has resulted in the arrest of a man.

Daley and his partner Pete Waterfield finished fourth in the synchronised diving, after which Daley was the recipient of a tweet that appeared to mock the death of his father last year.

Dorset Police launched an investigation and made an arrest of a 17-year-old on Tuesday morning.

"A 17-year-old man was arrested by Dorset Police officers in the early hours this morning at a guesthouse in the Weymouth area on suspicion of malicious communications," a spokesman for the force said. "He is currently helping police with their inquiries."

Daley has a second shot at gold in the individual event and Hunt claims the youngster is fully focused on his event this weekend.

"We followed closely the tweets overnight," Hunt said."The tweets were completely unfair, irresponsible and a threat." Hunt confirmed he had spoken to Daley, adding the 18-year-old is "unaffected" and that the team "are ready for the next round of competition."
