Sharapova and Serena power into final

It will be USA versus Russia in the final of the women's singles, as Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams advanced to the final.

Russia were guaranteed a finalist as Sharapova took on her compatriot Maria Kirilenko in the semi-final and it was the higher-profile player who progressed with a 6-2 6-3 win.

Sharapova was impressive as she dominated Kirilenko but will almost certainly have to up her game on Saturday if Williams brings her semi-final form to the final.

The Wimbledon champion has powered her way through the tournament and she was awesome as she crushed world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

Azarenka had no answers to Williams in their Wimbledon semi-final last month and it was a similar story as the American dominated behind her serve, she powered down 16 aces, and from the back of the court as she claimed a 6-1 6-2 win.
