Lotus has announced that it will run Rodolfo Gonzalez on day one of the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi this week.

Gonzalez, who drove for Lotus in last year's test, has just come off the back of a disappointing GP2 season with Trident, failing to score a point as he secured a best result of 9th place. He will join the already confirmed Alexander Rossi and Luis Razia in the car, with Razia running on Wednesday and Rossi on Thursday.

Gonzalez said he was hoping to use the opportunity to build on the experience of 2010. "I am really pleased to be back with Team Lotus again in Abu Dhabi," Gonzalez said. "Last year I learned a lot in the time I had with the team, and another year on I am sure I can keep developing on and off track with this opportunity."

Group CEO Riad Asmat said that he expected all three drivers to be hungry to prove themselves in a Formula One car.

"We worked with Rodolfo last year at the same test and he performed well for us in the step up to F1," Asmat said. "With Rodolfo, Alexander and Luiz we have three talented up and coming drivers who will be keen to learn as much as possible, as well as show us they have the pace and temperament to succeed in Formula One."
