Sergio Perez believes his pairing with Jenson Button should help McLaren get the most out of the 2013 Pirelli tyres.

Tyre usage was an integral part of last season's unpredictable nature, which resulted in seven different winners from the first seven races of the year. Pirelli unveiled the 2013 rubber last week and Paul Hembery said the teams "will have to get used to a little bit more degradation", and with both Perez and Button known to be easy on their tyres Perez said he expects McLaren to be able to get more out of the Pirellis.

"Hopefully. But that is all speculation right now - nothing is certain when you haven't been in the car and done a good deal of mileage," Perez told the official Formula One website. "My guess is that it would, of course, help the team to have two drivers with quite similar driving styles. But how similar are we? We'll find out in the next couple of weeks when we sit in the same car. Anything else would be comparing apples with oranges."

With his move to McLaren coming after just two years' Formula One experience, Perez also said he is not concerned that the move has come too soon in his career.

"I have good news for everybody: McLaren is a team that knows how to handle young drivers. Just think about my predecessor in the cockpit - Lewis Hamilton. He joined the team with no F1 experience at all and the team helped him to blossom into a winner and a champion. All I want is to get the same treatment."
