Mercedes keen to offer Kubica F1 test
Mercedes is keen to offer Robert Kubica a Formula One test as soon as the Pole feels ready to return to the cockpit.
Kubica recently drove Mercedes' F1 simulator and in January tested a Mercedes DTM car at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo, which was his first taste of a high-performance track car since partially severing his right arm during a rally in 2011. He is currently taking part in the European Rally Championship and WRC2, but Mercedes chief executive Toto Wolff has said he will be willing to make an F1 test car available as soon as Kubica is ready to make a return to single-seaters.
"If there's any chance of getting him back in a DTM touring car or F1 cockpit, we'd love to do it," Wolff told BBC Sport. "Any team would love to have a Robert Kubica."
In an interview with F1 Racing earlier this year Kubica said he believed he could make an F1 return if he regains movement in his wrist and Wolff says it is up to the Pole to let him know when he would like to test.
"He is somebody I have known for 10 years but it's absolutely his call how he wants to help us and his main focus is rallying," Wolff said. "This is where he wants to be successful and what he wants to do in the future."
