Nothing to choose between Hamilton and Rosberg - Brawn

Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn says the difference between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg this year has been tiny, despite Hamilton's lead in the drivers' standings.

The Mercedes pairing is among the most highly rated on the grid this season and has yielded three race wins, two for Rosberg and one for Hamilton. However, Hamilton has a 35-point lead over his team-mate and has out-qualified Rosberg 8-5 so far this year.

The last two rounds have seen Rosberg reclaim the upper-hand, but Brawn says there is nothing to choose between the two.

"I think with both of them, when one gets a tiny advantage and slightly ahead it's often difficult to define," he said. "I think Nico this weekend [in Singapore] was perhaps a little bit happier with the balance and got the car where he wanted it for qualifying, and perhaps Lewis didn't. But the differences are tiny; it's not like one driver is having a disaster and the other is having a great day. I think it's just the normal variances that you get, and quite frankly it's great to see from both of them."

Brawn is hoping the healthy rivalry will continue at the team.

"If we've got one driver dominating it means the other is not doing very well, but we've got two drivers doing very well," he added. "From a team perspective, having the drivers push each other like that is exactly what we want. Both have the same equipment, both have a very good team of engineers and mechanics and I like to see it swing like that on a regular basis so that we don't have a weak member of the team."
