Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is expecting Red Bull to bounce back from its nightmare opening test in Jerez two weeks ago.

While Mercedes was able to complete 309 laps and a race simulation over the first four days of pre-season testing, Red Bull completed just 21 laps and discovered several issues plaguing the new RB10. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is confident his team will find the necessary solutions ahead of the start of the season and Wolff is wary of the reigning champions and their ability to fight back.

"It's not good for Formula One that a manufacturer is in trouble, but I am sure that they will come back strongly - hopefully a bit less than before," he told the Mirror. "First, they have an outstanding driver [in Sebastian Vettel]. Secondly, they have put together a group of people that work very well. Thirdly, they have the resources from the parent company.

"So there's no reason that Red Bull will not once again be the benchmark."

The second pre-season test will get underway in Bahrain on February 19.
