It's still been a good season - Rosberg
Nico Rosberg maintains that it has been a good season for Mercedes despite the team having now gone five races without scoring a point.
An encouraging start to the season saw Rosberg and team-mate Michael Schumacher lock out the front row in China and Rosberg go on to win the race, while Schumacher took pole in Monaco before a grid penalty and Rosberg finished the race in second place. However, Mercedes has been less competitive since then and the United States Grand Prix was the fifth race in succession in which it failed to score a point, but Rosberg said the team was still showing signs of improvement.
"Our target for this year was to do better than last year, and in the first part of the season we managed to do that, definitely," Rosberg told ESPN. "With winning China - the first win for Mercedes in 57 years, and then the first win for the team and for me - it was a very, very special occasion. Then finishing second in my hometown of Monaco, that was also fantastic and we had the best car at that point in time, we had the fastest car out of everybody.
"Then unfortunately we got in to some difficulties and now at the end of the season we're struggling a little bit. But still, all in all it's been a good season because we're moving forward and that's nice to see, and that's very encouraging also for the future."
Rosberg put the recent lack of competitiveness down to Mercedes' failings developing its car compared to other teams.
"I think for us we didn't manage to quite keep up in the development race with other people, I think they just managed to improve their cars quicker than us and so we've fallen behind a little bit."
