Hatton poised to call time on career

Ricky Hatton is poised to call time on his career in the ring, according to reports on Sky Sports News.
Hatton had made plans to return for a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez - and had been at a training camp in a bid to get into shape.
However, it is being claimed that his training had not gone as planned and led the former world champion to admit to himself that he can no longer cut it at the highest level.
There has been no word from the Hatton camp, but Sky Sports News are suggesting that a press conference will be called next week when an announcement will be made.
Hatton's former promoter Frank Warren believes the Mancunian would be wise to quite the ring.
"There were strong rumours this week that Ricky Hatton is set to retire - let's hope for his health they are true," Warren wrote in his column in the Sun. "He later distanced himself from comments he would quit the ring and pulled the plug on a proposed comeback against Juan Manuel Marquez.
"But he is said to be 4st over his fighting weight, looking dreadful in training. I wrote a couple of weeks ago that Hatton is so out of shape I'd be surprised if he fought this year.
"His trainer Lee Beard recently quit to work with Joan Guzman. That indicates where he thinks Hatton's future lies.
"He will leave quite a legacy though as one of the better, most exciting fighters to have come out of Britain in the last 10 years, and a great ticket seller."
