Brown and Turner fall short in Olympic bid
Adam Brown and Grant Turner suffered disappointment as neither qualified for the Olympics after failing to get the qualifying time required in the men's 100m freestyle at the ASA National Championships.
As things stand, no-one from Team GB will represent in either the 50m or 100m after Brown and Turner - who both came close to reaching the qualifying target in the heats on Saturday morning - both finished outside the FINA 'A' time required (Brown won in 49.16 seconds).
Aimee Willmott impressed, however, romping to a 10-second victory in the women's 400m individual medley. The Middlesbrough swimmer touched home in four minutes 38.68 seconds, with Lucy Spencer well back in second.
Willmott, who recorded a personal best in a heat, 4:40.79, during the morning session, said: "This week I've had quite a few hard sessions so to do that time tonight, I'm really chuffed. I've been getting in the pool a bit later to get used to swimming fast at 10 o'clock and that's starting to pay off.
"Tonight I knew I would be tired after that morning swim so I just had to get in and give it everything. It really hurt but I'm really happy with the time."
Jemma Lowe (200m butterfly) and Lucy Ellis (400m freestyle) won their respective events on the final day in Sheffield, while Lewis Coleman and Andrew Willis were also victorious.
