Amir Khan defeats Dmitriy Salita in 76 seconds

Amir Khan followed his 76-second demolition of Dmitriy Salita by declaring that he plans to go to America and "shock the world." Khan dismissed the American with an authoritative performance in Newcastle to defend his WBA World Light-Welterweight title.
After the victory, the 22-year-old wasted no time in divulging his plans for the future. "It's everyone's dream to go over to Las Vegas," Khan said. "Next year sometime is what we're looking at and we're going to hopefully shock the world when we go to America."
The brevity of Khan's fight against Salita was a shock to many, especially after the ignominious 51-second defeat the Brit suffered against Breidis Prescott in September 2008. The Bolton-born pugilist floored Salita in the first ten seconds and didn't let his intensity decrease as he forced a first-round stoppage.
Frank Warren, Khan's promoter, echoed his fighter by confirming that a bout in America is imminent. "He will go and fight in the States. What fighter doesn't want to fight at Madison Square Garden or in Las Vegas? He's got the ambition to do that and prove himself over there. He will do that," Warren said.
The promoter was unflattering in his assessment of Ricky Hatton when the prospect of a Hatton-Khan fight was raised. "I don't feel Ricky Hatton should fight any more," Warren said. "Maybe he could get himself down to the weight, but one thing's for sure, his reflexes and his legs are gone. For Ricky to be able to fight it would take him about six or seven months to get himself into some shape."
