Hatton warns Froch about Kessler's threat

Ricky Hatton has warned Carl Froch to expect his toughest fight to date when he takes on Mikkel Kessler in Denmark on Saturday.

Froch has travelled to Kessler's native country - where he has never lost in 35 bouts - for the contest, which is part of the Super Six series that will crown a unified super-middleweight champion.

WBC title holder Froch goes into the bout with an unbeaten record, meaning that something has to give when the two face off.

"Kessler will be the hardest fight for him in the Super Six," Hatton said. "He is the danger man, very big, very strong. This could be his trickiest fight. If he comes through I believe he'll win the Super Six."

Despite acknowledging the onerous task that Froch faces, Hatton is backing his countryman to defeat Kessler. "I do think Froch will win. The level he has been boxing at is absolutely unbelievable," he said. "He has struggled in a couple of his fights, but you have to look at the quality of those he has beaten.

"Look at them - Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell. That is the highest of the highest level, one after the other. It shows he is a great fighter, that he is willing to fight all those champions in a short sequence.

"Froch is one of the very best world champions out there. If he can beat Kessler in his backyard it will be one hell of an achievement."
