Amir Khan has vowed to end Paulie Malignaggi's career when the two meet in New York on May 15.

WBA light-welterweight champion Khan is keen to put on a spectacular performance during the bout, which is his first in America.

Khan is confident that he will be able to follow in the footsteps of Ricky Hatton - who stopped Malignaggi in 2008 - and make a lot of spectators happy as a result.

"People want to see him get beat," Khan said to the Manchester Evening News. "No one has done a proper job on him so I want to be the first person to do a proper job on him. He'll be hanging up his gloves after this fight."

In other boxing news, European heavyweight champion Audley Harrison is confident that a victory against next scheduled opponent Alexander Dimitrenko will offer him the opportunity to fight for a world title.

"Dimitrenko is a test I'm happy to face in my next fight," Harrison said. "With that fight and that victory, I'll be ranked in the top ten of three of the main four sanctioning bodies. I will rightfully earn a shot at one of the titleholders."

No date has been set for the Dimitrenko bout, as Harrison is convalescing after shoulder surgery. He sustained the injury during his fight against Michael Sprott, who he defeated to claim the European strap.
