The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a huge blow to their NBA play-off chances after shooting guard Kobe Bryant suffered a potential season-ending injury in their narrow victory over Golden State Warriors.

Lakers eventually won the game 118-116, but Bryant's season could now be over after the 34-year-old suffered an apparent Achilles injury with three minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter.

Bryant had scored 34 points before being helped off the court with injury, and was quick to understand the seriousness of the situation following his move to round Warriors forward Harrison Barnes.

"I felt like I got kicked. It is a move I make a million times and pop," Bryant said. "Just a freak situation I guess.

"I can't walk. I tried to put pressure on my heel, see if I can do it that way, and there is nothing there. I had no Achilles, that is the sensation. MRI, surgery and then recovery.

"I never had to deal with something like this. It is a new experience for me."

Lakers have two games remaining in the regular season, both at home, and sit third in the Pacific standings in the Western Conference.
