Barcelona book London Clasico
There will be at least one Clasico in London this May - after Barcelona booked a Euroleague Final Four showdown against Real Madrid at the O2 Arena.
Their footballing equivalents may both be facing uphill battles to reach the Champions League final at Wembley after harrowing semi-final first leg defeats, but Barcelona secured a showdown with their traditional rivals on the basketball court after winning the decisive final game of their play-off with Panathanaikos late on Thursday evening.
Barcelona edged the Greek side 64-53 to take the best-of-five game series 3-2, with the Euroleague's all-time leading scorer Juan Carlos Navarro contributing 15 crucial points to decide the tie.
"We knew it would be a complicated game but we won and that's all that matters," Navarro said afterwards. "We must rest now because we took it to the limit, physically speaking."
They will now face Real in London on May 10, with the winner of that meeting going on to the final two days later.
The other semi-final sees CSKA Moscow take on defending champions Olympiakos, after the Greek side completed their series victory on Friday.
