Jenny Meadows is determined to finish in the medal positions at the European Championships in order to continue to prove that she is no "one-hit wonder".

The 29-year-old claimed the 800 metres bronze at the World Championships in Berlin last summer, before winning silver at the World Indoor Championships earlier this year.

Now, after again impressing by finishing second in the 800m at the Diamond League meet on Friday, she is seeking to be crowned the Europe's best in the Barcelona tournament in July.

"Ever since I got bronze in Berlin I have said I'd be disappointed not to be on the podium at these championships but before I can think about that I have to earn my place in the British team," Meadows told Metro.

"In Berlin I felt I'd made it, which was fantastic, but I followed that up with silver at the World Indoors this year and that was important as I felt I had to prove myself again and show I was no one-hit wonder."

The Commonwealth Games in Delhi comes hot on the heels of the European Championships, but Meadows is not ruling out competing at the event. "At this stage I'm open to the Commonwealths as it's really hard to watch a Games and not be involved," she said. "The Europeans are my No. 1 aim this year [so] I'll have to see after Barcelona."
