Nick Matthew has reached the US Open final after defeating fellow Brit James Willstrop 11-3 11-6 11-5 in Philadelphia.

Matthew will now play Gregory Gaultier in the final after the top seed saw off the challenge of Egypt's Karim Darwish 11-7 11-4 12-10 - meaning the 2013 edition of the tournament will produce a non-Egyptian winner for the first time in four years.

The Brit beat Willstrop in the 2007 final to be crowned champion, but has indicated Gaultier will be favourite having played more matches this season.

"I'll need to be fresh as possible for the final," Matthews, who is also British Champion, said.

"He's [Gaultier] played 75 matches this season and I've played four, so he's much more match sharp than I am. I'll just go out to express myself and enjoy it, and if I happen to win that would be great."
