Brit pair suffer defeats in US Open final

Nick Matthew suffered an 11-4 11-5 11-5 defeat to top seed Gregory Gautier in the US Open final in Philadelphia.

Brit Matthew won the tournament in 2007, but ultimately found the Frenchman too strong.

Fellow Brit Laura Massaro lost in the women's final to world number one Nicol David, despite being two sets to one up. They played out a five-set thriller, but David came back to win 13-11 11-13 7-11 11-8 11-5.

Massaro lost to David in the final of the World Open in 2012.
