Fancy owning a share in an American football player? Well for just $10 you can buy an interest in the future earnings of Houston Texans running back Arian Foster.

The chance to invest in Foster has appeared on the Securities and Exchange Commission. More than a million shares are being offered by US company Fantex.

Fantex is aiming to create an exchange that facilitates the trading of stock linked to the value and performance of professional athletes, and are currently looking for other sports stars to expand their market.

Foster is set to earn $10 million if the share offering is successful. Fantex and their investors will in turn receive 20 per cent of the 27-year-old's future earnings.

Potential investors be warned, however - Foster aggravated a hamstring injury during Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
