Lindsey Vonn has partially torn one of the reconstructed ligaments in her surgically repaired knee after crashing in training at Copper Mountain following her return from injury.

The girlfriend of world No. 1 golfer Tiger Woods was not taken to hospital for medical examinations, and instead went back home to Vail, Colorado, to be assessed by the surgeon who operated on her knee.

Vonn was sidelined for seven months with ruptured knee ligaments, and only returned to training in September. The American could be a doubt for the Winter Olympics in February in Sochi, where she is hoping to defend her downhill gold medal.

Her publicist said after Vonn has a few days' rest, she "then will pursue aggressive physical therapy and will determine the next time she is able to compete after seeing how she responds to the treatment."
