British Swimming has announced the London Aquatics Centre will be the home of a new Diving High Performance Centre as of spring 2014.

The venue was used for all diving events during the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the governing body will now work alongside venue operators GLL to provide "world class" diving facilities to aid the work of the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley recently announced he was considering a move to London from his current training base at the Plymouth Life Centre.

British Diving's national performance director Alexei Evangulov expressed his excitement about helping inspire a new generation of divers.

"The London Aquatics Centre is a fantastic facility with world class boards and dry land provision. A facility like this will help shape the next generation of athletes," Evangulov said. "It will allow them to see what an elite competition venue is like on a day-to-day basis."

The centre will open to both elite athletes and members of the public.
