Vonn 'hopeful' of comeback before Winter Olympics

Lindsey Vonn remains optimistic about competing at next year's Winter Olympics after re-injuring her right knee in a crash last week.

There had been doubts about whether the American skier would defend her gold medal in Sochi in February for the Games after she suffered a crash in training, injuring the knee that required surgery and kept her out of action for seven months.

But after speaking to the Today Show, the 29-year-old is hopeful of taking part at the Winter Games.

"I've been doing rehab and I've been progressing every day, but in the next couple of days I'm going to start getting on snow here and see how it feels," Vonn said.

"If things go well, I'll be racing next week. If they don't, then I'm going to have to reassess and see where I stand and if I can make a comeback for this season.

"I'm feeling good from rehab. I feel stable. I'm very hopeful, but, like I said, I really don't know until I get on snow."
