World champion Nick Matthew is through to the final of the Hong Kong Open following a thrilling semi-final against Gregory Gaultier.

The Sheffield-born star, who beat Frenchman Gaultier in the world final last month, came through 11-13 11-4 11-4 8-11 11-3.

But it will not be an all-England affair in Sunday's final after Norfolk's James Willstrop was beaten 11-3 11-6 11-9 by Spaniard Borja Golan.

There was also an English casualty in the women's semi-finals, as fourth-seed Alison Waters was felled by defending champion Nicol David 9-11 13-11 11-7 11-7.

The Malaysian will play Egyptian third seed Raneem El Weleily who cruised past Hong Kong's Annie Au 11-6 11-5 11-5.
