Double Olympic champion secures hat-trick of world records
Charlotte Dujardin, the double Olympic champion, has secured a hat-trick of world records following a stunning display at the London International Horse Show.
The Briton won the Reem Acra FEI World Cup freestyle class on her London 2012 horse Valegro, setting a new mark of 93.975%, beating the previous record of 92.3% set in the event four years ago.
"It's been an incredible journey from when I started to now," Dujardin said, who now holds the record in all three categories of the sport, adding to her Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special triumphs.
"It's been an absolute rollercoaster. The things I've done, I didn't even dream of doing or achieving. Now I've finally got my last world record, it's fantastic."
The future of Dujardin and Valegro has been a talking point since London 2012, with Valegro's owners looking to sell the horse. However, Dujardin has revealed they will remain together for 2014.
"Absolutely, Valegro will be there next year," she said. "I'll be planning to do the World Equestrian Games next year and see how it goes. I'd love to get some medals at the Worlds, so I've done Europeans, Olympics and Worlds. That's my next goal."
