GB bobsleigh quartet clinch silver medal

Great Britain's four-man bobsleigh team clinched the silver medal at the European Championships as they completed their preparations for the Winter Olympics in style.

The team, led by John Jackson, were fourth overall in the competition, but took home the silver medal as they were the highest-placed team from Europe, and head to Sochi next month on a high.

"It's a great result to send us to Sochi. There is still much more to come from this crew," GB bobsleigh performance director Gary Anderson told the BBC.

"We made subtle changes in technology that we will look at and analyse the impact of ahead of the Games."

Jackson, Stuart Benson, Bruce Tasker and Joel Fearon are the first four men to finish on a podium for Team GB for the first time since 1994.

The USA won the gold medal, with Switzerland finishing in second and Canada in third.
